Traffic System Roles

While all licensed hams are welcome and encouraged to participate in traffic handling, the National Traffic System does offer some Field Appointments through ARRL Headquarters for those that demonstrate quality traffic handling and commitment to the system. Use the links below to find out more about each role.

Section Traffic Manager

The STM is appointed by the Section Manager to supervise traffic handling at the section level.

Assistant Section Traffic Manager

The Assistant STM is the assistant to the Section Traffic Manager and assists in matters pertaining to traffic handling at the section level.

Net Manager

Net Managers are responsible for coordinating and supervising traffic handling activities in the section.

Official Relay Station

This Field Appointment is open to traffic handlers, regardless of license class or operating mode, that demonstrate readiness to function in the community interest in case of emergency.
